Reader, I married him…

Just a quick and happy note, as I’ve been a little quiet lately - I’m delighted to say that Ian and I got married on 2nd July, with a quick trip into Alnwick registry office and then a wedding music festival with friends and family up at Boulmer.

The weather blessed us (the day before it was torrential with thunder and lightning, and we hid in the marquee thinking we’d made a huge logistical mistake) and the sun came out for the Saturday.

We couldn’t have done it by ourselves - every part of the day was aided by our loved ones. My wonderful aunt made me a flower crown to wear and a bouquet which included flowers from my Grandma’s garden, and our friends filled the day and evening with music (until 4am around the fire pits!). The whole day was filled with love and magic.

After a week off together, we’re slowly coming back down to earth.

Gigs to be announced soon, music to be happening, but, for now, we’re sending you some of our joy and happiness to share. I’ve included the two readings from our ceremony below, in case you’d like to read them.

All my love,

Jenny (still ‘Lascelles’, I’ve kept it!) xxx

From The Amber Spyglass

Philip Pullman

I will love you forever; whatever happens. Till I die and after I die, and when I find my way out of the land of the dead, I’ll drift about forever, all my atoms, till I find you again…

I’ll be looking for you, every moment, every single moment. And when we do find each other again, we’ll cling together so tight that nothing and no one’ll ever tear us apart. Every atom of me and every atom of you…

We’ll live in birds and flowers and dragonflies and pine trees and in clouds and in those little specks of light you see floating in sunbeams…

And when they use our atoms to make new lives, they won’t just be able to take one, they’ll have to take two, one of you and one of me, we’ll be joined so tight…

Love

Roy Croft

I love you,
Not only for what you are,
But for what I am
When I am with you.
I love you,
Not only for what
You have made of yourself,
But for what
You are making of me.

I love you
For the part of me
That you bring out;

I love you
For putting your hand
Into my heaped-up heart
And passing over
All the foolish, weak things
That you can't help
Dimly seeing there,
And for drawing out
Into the light
All the beautiful belongings
That no one else had looked
Quite far enough to find.

I love you because you
Are helping me to make
Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern
But a temple;
Out of the works
Of my every day
Not a reproach
But a song.

I love you
Because you have done
More than any creed
Could have done
To make me good,
And more than any fate
Could have done
To make me happy.

You have done it
Without a touch,
Without a word,
Without a sign.

You have done it
By being yourself.

Perhaps that is what
Being a friend means,
After all.
